Selena Gomez plans low-key party for 18th birthday.

Wizards Of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez is planning a low-key party to celebrate her 18th birthday.

The US actress will turn 18 on July 22 and said she doesn't want a big party to celebrate her coming of age.

She said to Digital Spy: "It's a big deal, but I don't know. I had a sweet 16 and I'm not really into that huge party thing. If anything, I'll go out to dinner with my family."

Gomez's debut album with her band Selena Gomez & The Scene, Kiss & Tell, is soon released in the UK, and she said she celebrated with a dinner when the album went gold in the US.

She said: "I think I went to dinner. I know that my stepfather's dad bought me a cake, and then I went to sushi. I was really excited!"

Teen singer Selena Gomez has asked the media to leave her alone as she doesn't want to talk about her private life.

The Disney star is rumoured to have dated Nick Jonas and Taylor Lautner in the past but said she wants people to focus on her acting rather than her private life.

She said to UK's You magazine: "My ideal would be not to be known for whom I'm dating, because eventually that's all you will be known for.

"It's hard, because people are curious about who's in my life, but I want to be known for my work. And I never want to view myself as any different or any better than anyone else."

Gomez added: "If I wanna go eat at a little restaurant that isn't fancy, I'll do it. If I wanna go out without make-up and not care what I look like, I will."

Selena Gomez will be 'heartbroken' when the end of Wizards of Waverly Place comes.

The 17-year-old actress plays the role of Alex Russo in the Disney TV series but will be leaving after the next season.

She said to MTV News: "Unfortunately, I'm doing my last season of my show, which I'm really heartbroken about.

"That's gonna be a terrible time for me. I'm gonna do a movie for my show, which I'll be excited to end it with, and then a tour."

Gomez said fans shouldn't be too sad as they have plenty to look forward to with her movie of the show and her next album.

She said: "The title so far of my album - I mean, I'm hoping it will stick - is A Year Without Rain. It's basically one of my favourite songs on the record. It's kind of got a more feel-good dance beat and feel.

"I love it. It's different, kind of shows my growth of my music. I think, if anything, the lyrics are powerful, in a way."
